We live in a world where technology is all around us. At LSS, we may use various software and media to promote cognitive development, mathematics and science concepts, and language and literacy. We believe screen time (time spent in front of any screen, computer, tablet, phone, or tv) should be minimized. Our screen activities are intentionally selected to provide additional support for specific skills.
There are few things more rewarding than observing the awes of nature. We impress upon our Little Scholars the importance of nature and our roles to care for it. To name just a few of our many nature activities, we observe ant farms, the life cycle of butterflies, and grow grass in cups. Nature is all around us and daily, we take every opportunity to observe, explore, and wonder the awes of nature.
We are always looking for opportunities to expose our Little Scholars to new experiences. This is how gifts and talents are discovered! We offer a weekly dance class from a local dance company. On a rotating basis, we also offer gymnastics, sports, and yoga. At this time, our extracurricular activities are included in the tuition.
Field trips are an awesome extension of learning. We provide several field trips throughout the school year. Our field trips take place onsite, we do not leave the safety of our school. The fun comes to us! Field trips vary each year and depend on the interest of our students. In the past, we have experienced African safari animals, exotic insects, birds, farm animals, a Bubble show, puppets, Community workers, including the local Fire Department and Police Department.
Art is so very important as not only an outlet for expression, but an opportunity for children to develop fine motor skills (using the small muscles in their hands), eye hand coordination, and most importantly, the freedom to create and imagine. Our Little Scholars create with many supplies including paint, color, chalk, stencils, and more daily.
Our Little Scholars’ brains are at the perfect age to be receptive to learning new languages. Our teachers infuse Spanish and Sign Language into our program seamlessly. Diversity, in culture and ability, is recognized and celebrated in our school community.
We are having a cleaning Supply Drive for families in need...
